Are You Surviving Or Thriving?

Sometimes in life you can kind of get into a rut where you feel like you’re just surviving, but not really thriving.  It can sneak up on you and you just feel like you’re getting up each day going through the motions. You’re not really excited about much and in fact, you might be dealing with some apathy or sadness.

While it’s not likely you’ll experience pure bliss all the time, there are certainly things you can be doing that will assure that you feel as if you’re thriving much of the time.  By thriving, I mean that you feel alive, energized, hopeful, strong, content, productive, and so on.

Do you think you’re surviving or thriving?

The following are some key factors that you can consider in order to begin thriving in every area of your life:

Positivity

Optimism does make a difference.  Do you tend to think more positive or negative thoughts?  Do you look for the silver lining in the clouds or do you start complaining right away when things don’t go as planned? What’s your perspective for the future?

To live a life where you’re thriving, choosing to adopt a positive perspective no matter what’s going on is important. Curve balls are thrown in life, but seeing beyond them and believing for better will assure you more happy feelings and good days.

Are You Surviving Or Thriving?

Spiritual Or Religious Path

One common characteristic of those who claim that they thrive is a belief in a religion or spiritual path. They find a sense of belonging in a community of like-minded believers and feel as if their beliefs in their higher power helps them have a sense of purpose and meaning.  For one, this could mean taking up the practice of daily prayer or meditation. For another, it could mean getting out in the beauty of nature regularly and taking in the awesomeness of creation.  It really is whatever resonates with each person. So, if you’re seeking a life that feels invigorating and energized, think about getting on or widening your spiritual path.

Fueling Motivation

Many people’s inner spark tends to dim out over time if they’re not consistently fueling their flames.  Think of the firepit where the embers are blazing hot.  Don’t you stoke them every once in a while, to get them to stay sizzling?  What happens over time if you don’t add more fuel to the fire? They burn out, right?

The same thing can happen to us if we aren’t consistently fueling our inner flames.  Are you motivated to grow? Learn new things? Perform meaningful tasks?

If not, stoke your fire regularly by doing those things that motivate you. That could be reading a book, watching something motivational, listening to podcasts, getting together with others who are thriving, and so on. Discover and do what works for you consistently.

Why Survive When You Can Thrive?

Life has its ebbs and flows, for sure, but you don’t have to stay in survival mode long-term.  You can rise above using time tested principles and strategies of those who have “been there and done that.”

Do You Want To Thrive?

Of course, you do. I want you to know that you can. Take these tips into consideration and determine to start a new path today toward becoming more energized, focused, hopeful, zealous, consistent, courageous, motivated, and so on.  And remember, it’s progress you’re after; not perfection.

Welcome to a thriving kind of life!
